Regular Activity at the Wiltshire Music Centre

Open over 80 hours each week, the Centre is used by over 2,000 people on average every week. There is a wide variety of musical and community activity for people of all ages, abilities and interests to take part in.

Weekly Music Activity

Jazz Factory
Jazz Factory welcomes players of all ages. There are four tutored workshop groups: a vocal group and three instrumental groups catering for different levels of playing ability. The regular tutors are all practising jazzers and it is not unknown for some fairly well known regional and international jazz musicians to come in and help.

West Wiltshire Young Musicians
Established by the County Council in partnership with parents and supporters, WWYM provides weekly bands and orchestras for young musicians from both primary and secondary schools to experience high quality music- making during term-time. There are twelve structured playing groups, for different levels of ability, and six of these rehearse at the Wiltshire Music Centre.
Tuesday: West Wiltshire Youth Orchestra, West Wiltshire String Ensemble
Wednesday: West Wiltshire Young Singers
Thursday: West Wiltshire Concert Band, West Wiltshire Wind Band, West Wiltshire Junior Wind

Music Makers
If you would like your child to do more music than there is time for at school, Music Makers will enable them to discover how music works through musical games and fun activities.
9.30am - 10.15am: 18 months - 2 and a half years
10.30 - 11.15am: Risings 3s and 3s
11.30 - 12.15am: Rising 4s and 4s

Singing in the Round
Learn songs from around the world, experiment with different ways of singing and learn to improvise at Singing in the Round. You don’t need to read music or have sung before.
Thursdays 7.40-9.40pm

Soundwell Music Therapy
Provides music therapy for groups and individual sessions for people of all ages with a variety of special needs.
Tuesdays.

Holiday Music and Other Regular Music Activity

Wiltshire and Swindon Youth Orchestra
Aged between 11 and 21, the highly acclaimed Wiltshire and Swindon Youth Orchestra is made up of the cream of music talent from Wiltshire and Swindon. The Orchestra meets for intensive courses during school holidays, rehearsing and performing works from the symphony orchestra repertoire under the direction of professional conductors and tutors.

Pre-concert Talks and Events
A series of free pre-concert talks and events at the Centre give you the opportunity to find out more about the performance, starting an hour before the concert.

Recorded Music Society
The Bradford on Avon Recorded Music Society gives regular presentations and talks about recorded classical music.

Community Activity

Pilates
For men and women aged 8 to 80. Beginners can be integrated via introductory workshops or 1:1 lessons. Those with experience of Pilates may be able to join a class immediately.
Thursday 7.30-8.30pm and 8.30-9.30pm.
