GBH Big Band

GBH Big Band has been to the gallery to look at some old masters and found a new one. This fabulous new version of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition by father and son Clare and Brent Fischer contains all the original pictures from the famous opening promenade to the towering gate of Kiev exquisitely reworked for big band. Alongside this, GBH presents a gallery of big band classics by masters of the last fifty years: Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Woody Herman, Charles Mingus, Stan Kenton, Buddy Rich and Quincy Jones. All framed in the irrepressible GBH way!

    Super band who are unafraid to push the limits; as per the Pictures at an Exhibition concert. I make a point of not missing their appearances at the B-on-A music centre and at this one invited two colleagues along who were as impressed as me.

    I thought the concert was absolutely brilliant, it was a very clever arrangement of 'Pictures at an Exhibition' it was also good to hear all the classic Jazz pieces, Thanks you very much!
