No sound is more evocative of the lavish splendour of Venice around the end of the 16th and early 17th centuries than this glorious music composed for cornetts and sackbuts. Andrea and Giovanni Gabrieli, Marini, Grandi, Cesare and Claudio Monteverdi placed musicians around St Marks to drench the walls and vaults of the Basilica with echoes of their heavenly sound.  Join the OAE for this splendid concert and celebrate the genius that flourished in one of the greatest cultural capitals in European history.
