Falla's engaging orchestral arrangements of Pantomime and Ritual Fire Dance from Love, the Magician make a satisfying contrast with Mozart's popular 5th Violin Concerto, with its striking 'Turkish' effects. Joining EUCO's stunning musicians as soloist is the brilliant young violinist Callum Smart who came to wide public attention by winning the string section of the 2010 BBC Young Musicians Competition and becoming one of three concerto finalists.

He plays a Carlo Bergonzi violin dating from the time of Haydn's birth. We are thrilled also to present, in the presence of its composer, the world première of EUCOs short new commission Romp. Haydn's brilliant middle period symphony concludes the concert, with its lithe first movement, muted Adagio, sturdy Minuet and dazzling finale.

Pre Concert Talk: James Young in conversation with Ambrose Miller, Director of EUCO Trust.
