Music for the Mind

Singing together in the round is uplifting for all, and especially therapeutic for people living with dementia and family carers. The 90-minute sessions are carefully structured to be both stimulating and fun. We start with 30 minutes’ social time and refreshments before a vocal warm-up. Although well-loved classics are part of the mix, we also learn new songs, rhymes and actions and tackle harmonies, rounds and partner songs to create some beautiful sounds together. Members are encouraged to suggest songs they would like to sing and the atmosphere is warm and friendly with everyone taking part in their own way. There is a lot of laughter!

Singing teacher and choir leader Caroline Radcliffe has been leading this popular group for 13 years and was recently named Best Teacher/Coach at the Wiltshire Life Awards.

“The staff at the Wiltshire Music Centre are unfailingly helpful and the room we use for our Music for the Mind group is always ready and waiting for us on a Monday morning… we can’t think of a nicer place to start the week!”
