Wiltshire Youth Jazz Orchestra (WYJO) aims to provide Wiltshire’s most talented young jazz musicians with an opportunity to work at the highest level with like-minded young musicians.
WYJO engages professional musicians as tutorial staff including Music Director, Mike Daniels and has worked with leading UK jazz musicians including outstanding trombonist Dennis Rollins and internationally renowned pianist Gwilym Simcock. We are also delighted to announce that our Jazz Artist in Residence 2018 will be multi-award winning jazz vocalist Claire Martin.
The Orchestra achieves a fantastically high standard in the courses and concerts given during the year at Wiltshire Music Centre and across the county. We are now seeking new applications from young musicians at a minimum of Grade 6 or equivalent.
Membership of WYJO also provides the opportunity to take part in masterclasses and workshops as part of Wiltshire Music Centre’s annual programme, and access free tickets to live professional concerts at the Centre (subject to availability).
Our main recruitment period is now open. The application deadline for the 2018-19 season is 21 September 2018. Applications are welcomed throughout the year and will be kept on file until a suitable opening occurs. If you would like to join the Wiltshire Youth Jazz Orchestra please complete the application form or download the PDF form.
