Today we write in the face of a fast-changing and testing situation and our thoughts are with you all and your loved ones.
Live music and community engagement are at the heart of everything that we do, but the wellbeing of our audiences, participants, staff, volunteers, artists and community is paramount. We are very sorry to announce that in line with the latest advice from the UK Government and Public Health England, effective today Wednesday 18th March 2020 6pm the Wiltshire Music Centre will be closed until 14th April 2020. All concerts, events and activities in this period will be cancelled or postponed. We will be reviewing the situation closely.
Ticket holders for performances during this period will automatically receive a credit to their Wiltshire Music Centre account. If you would prefer to receive a refund, please contact our Box Office. Please note that due to the number of concerts affected and the high number of tickets sold for these events, all credits and refunds will be issued on the day the concert was scheduled to take place, at the earliest. Your patience is greatly appreciated during this time.
Our venue and sector are facing extremely challenging times. Concert income normally represents over 40% of our annual income, and the Centre has to raise over £75,000 a year in individual donations to deliver our Artistic and Creative Learning & Community Engagement programmes. We need your help more than ever now, so please consider donating your cancelled ticket fee or support us via the donation link below. This will ensure that we continue to deliver high quality ensembles for young musicians, creative opportunities for young adults with learning disabilities, and cultural activities to rurally isolated older people across the county.
Wiltshire Music Centre will be closed during this period and there will be no access to the Box Office, although future concerts remain available for booking online. As a result, please do not come into the venue or call the Box Office. All patrons can contact us by emailing our Box Office using the details below.
We are nonetheless keen to support our visiting artists and creative practitioners during this period, and maintain as much contact as possible with our wider community of friends, audience and supporters. We are planning to send out a weekly newsletter with musical treats for you to enjoy in the coming weeks, so please keep in touch with us via social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) and our website for the latest news and updates.
On behalf of the whole WMC team, thank you very much for your patience and understanding. We greatly appreciate all the support we have received during this difficult time, and look forward to welcoming you back to WMC when we are able to reopen. In the meantime please take care of yourself and keep music alive wherever you can.
