Last Sunday, WMC music leaders Aga Serugo Lugo and Bob Heath joined from their homes to lead free vocal and songwriting workshops for Make Music Day UK. Streamed via YouTube, the workshops provided an opportunity for the whole family to take part together remotely. The aim of the session was to write a song based on the theme of the day, ‘Bring Me Sunshine’.
We are delighted to be able to share 'Shine Within' the result of this brilliant interactive workshop.
Lyrics include those written by: Sian, Jeremy, Katie, Karen, Sarah, Luke, Charlie, Kaye, Jo & Daisy, David and Avril.
Texts cost £5 plus one standard rate message.
Every pound we receive supports our Artistic and Creative Learning & Community Engagement programmes, playing a role in the well-being of more than 65,000 people every year, delivering over 270 sessions in the community and providing 56 full or part-time jobs in the local economy.
At Wiltshire Music Centre, we work with schools, communities and families across the county through our Creative Learning Programme. In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have been delivering engagement projects virtually, ensuring our participants continue to receive opportunities to experience music wherever they are.
It is a truly fascinating experience writing a song with people who you cannot see; you are immediately filled with such a nervous energy, wondering who is joining you and where the session will go. We needn’t have worried though – before long, participants new and old connected with joyous submissions for lyrics that quickly formed an uplifting and beautiful song.Adam Laughton, Creative Learning and Community Engagement Coordinator
