Mike Daniels cooks up a sumptious programme of Duke Ellington's legendary Sacred Concert, showcasing GBH Big Band, featuring international jazz vocalist Tina May and the massed choirs.
Powerful swing, stunning jazz vocals, soulful choral singing and a show-stopping tap dance combine in this Sunday afternoon treat.
Tina May is renowned for her interpretations of the great jazz repertoire to which she adds Francophile lyricism and a cinematic twist. Whilst studying in Paris, Tina sang with the Roger Guerin Big Band which was full of jazz stars, including Georges Arvanitas and Kenny Clark. She first sang Duke Ellington's Sacred Concert in 1990 with the Stan Tracey Big Band in Durham Cathedral to great critical acclaim.
Tina May is an international artist and she continues to record and tour the world with her performances.
