WMC Chorus

English Touring Opera returns  to present the third in the company’s stagings of Bach’s masterpieces at Wiltshire Music Centre. The Passion according to St Matthew – one of Bach’s most dramatic works – is presented in a way you have never seen it before. It tells in music the story of a trial, death by crucifixion, and transformation, by  witnesses whose lives  have been transformed. This emotive performance  is the finale of Bradford on  Avon’s ‘Countdown to Peace’
celebrations, commemorating the centenary of the Armistice that ended hostility in World War I  and Remembrance Sunday. ETO’s extraordinary soloists  will perform with period instrument orchestra, the Old Street Band, alongside  the Cantamus Chamber Choir. The professional performers  will be joined by a specially assembled community choir, the WMC Chorus. Charismatic conductor Jonathan Peter Kenny directs the performance,  which will involve a simple, heartfelt staging.

Take part:  Join the WMC Chorus: info@wiltshiremusic.org.uk

Running time: c.2h 55m /  one interval. Sung in German and English (chorales).

Supported by Bradford on Avon Town Council and Countdown to Peace
