‘The Garden’ is a new concept concert from imaginative song-interpreters Nishla Smith and Tom Harris. Together the City Music Foundation Artists paint an enchanting vision of a fantasy world in this one-off set for Wiltshire Music Centre.
Awoken at witching hour, and unable to find sleep again, our narrator finds her way outside, to the moonlit garden. She wanders the paths, thinking of people she’s met, places she’s travelled, things she’s done, and opportunities missed. Her fondest memories and deepest regrets. Plant perfumes, bird calls, and the slow rising of the sun bring songs from her childhood bubbling to the surface.
Imagining this story, Smith and Harris weave together beloved songs and original music with new poetry, stories, and musical interludes.

This concert is supported by the WMC Young Artist Fund
Supporting the development of young musicians has been at the heart of WMC’s work for over 20 years. Founded in 1997 as a rehearsal space for Wiltshire Young Musicians, the Centre provides year-round learning and performance opportunities to support young musicians at every stage of their development: from workshops in schools right through to their first performances on the WMC stage.
Our Young Artist Fund was launched in 2012 to support young artists at the start of their professional careers with performance opportunities, mentoring and support to stretch and develop their talent. Since then, the fund has supported over 70 young artists.
Please consider making a donation to the WMC Young Artist Fund to enable us to continue to support the next generation of professional musicians.
We are seeking the support of generous benefactors and organisations that could help us to present this outstanding livestream concert as part of our Young Artist Programme. For more information, please contact Annabel Green, Director of Development and Communications at email@example.com.
