Wiltshire Music Centre is delighted to be partnering with the English Touring Opera and Bradford on Avon based chamber choir Cantamus for a concert performance of J. S. Bach's iconic masterpiece,
St. Matthew Passion.
Easily the most dramatic of Bach's compositions, the passion will be performed in a way you have never seen it before. It tells in music the story of a trial, death by crucifixtion, and transformation, told by witnesses whose lives have been transformed. ETO's soloists will perform with the much praised period instrument orchestra the Old Street Band, lead by Jonathan Peter Kenny.
The WMC Chorus, led by Music Director Mike Daniels, alongside these remarkable musical forces, will perform a selection of chorales in the performance on Sunday 11th November at Wiltshire Music Centre.
We hope you can join WMC Chorus for this exciting project, which will be rehearsing at Wiltshire Music Centre on:
On 11th November WMC Chorus will rehearse with the rest of the ensemble on the afternoon of the performance.
The fee to join the WMC Chorus for this project is £25 (U18s £15) which includes all music hire and rehearsals.
To be part of this amazing and unique event, please complete the form via the link at the top of the page. There is no audition and you do not need to read music to take part. We are looking for Sopranos, Altos Tenors and Basses.
Please note – we would love to welcome you all to be a part of both projects, however we need to ensure that the choir is balanced in terms of voice types. With that in mind, we will be forming the choirs on a first-come first-served basis by voice type, so do submit the information form as soon as possible.
We hope that you will be able to join us for what will be an incredible performance!
