HINDEMITH Symphonic Metamorphosis
RACHMANINOV Piano Concerto No 2
ELGAR Enigma Variations

Young orchestral musicians from across the region return to the WMC stage for a programme of luscious symphonic gems. Hindemith’s vast Symphonic Metamorphosis shimmers with rich textures and dramatic themes. Rachmaninov’s timeless Piano Concerto No. 2 is a favourite with audiences since its full  remiere in 1901, blending soloistic virtuosity with musical clarity and romantic passion. Elgar’s Enigma Variations require little introduction; at the work’s heart, Elgar grieves for his music publisher and close friend August Jaeger through the deeply personal variation entitled Nimrod.
