Join us for a wonderful, socially-distanced afternoon of live music outside on the lawn as we celebrate the reopening of Wiltshire Music Centre.
For this, our first live event since lockdown, we're proud to showcase the brilliant groups and ensembles that regularly rehearse at WMC, including Wiltshire Young Musicians, Jazz Factory, Premiere Brass Quintet and Zone Club. Plus, a dazzling finale from local folk stars, the Carrivick Sisters performing original music and favourite covers.
Bring a picnic, a blanket and come along to enjoy live music in the last of the summer sunshine (fingers crossed)!
Tickets for this event are FREE.
Donations are invited towards our Community Fundraising Appeal. Funds raised will help us to continue putting the community centre stage through our vital work as a community centre, concert hall and creative learning hub, which supports the wellbeing of over 65,000 people every year. Thank you!
Texts cost £5 plus one standard rate message and you’ll be opting in to hear more about our work and fundraising via telephone and SMS. If you’d like to give £5 but do not wish to receive marketing communications, text WMCAPPEALNOINFO to 70450.
Wiltshire Young Musicians has been providing ensembles for young people in and around Wiltshire for the last 40 years and calls Wiltshire Music Centre home. They have many groups for players and singers at different levels and provide an amazing experience for young musicians to take their group playing to the next level.
Wiltshire Jazz Academy, formerly known as Saturday Jazz, are monthly sessions for developing young jazz musicians led by Mike Daniels and visiting tutors from the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. With opportunities to develop in a friendly environment led by experienced jazz musicians, these sessions are perfect for young players to learn about a world of jazz music.
Jazz Factory is a self-funding workshop open to all, offering members a chance to play and sing all styles of jazz. They run rehearsal sessions for players at WMC in term times, with regular showcases for family and friends.
Zone Club is WMC’s monthly creative group for learning disabled young adults where young people can create their own music, lyrics, dance and films. Having attended virtual sessions for the last few months, this will be their first performance together in the same space.
Fliss Courage Singers present a showcase of young singers, accompanied by teacher Felicity Courage. Felicity is founder and artistic director of performing arts club Courage Performers, and leads youth and adult choirs in West Wiltshire.
Cantamus Chamber Choir is a Wiltshire based amateur choir led by Michael Daniels. Cantamus regularly performs a wide range of chamber music and occasionally larger works often with other local and national groups.
Mike Daniels' Brass Quintet Formed to perform concerts for toddlers, the Mike Daniels Brass Quintet has progressed to entertain discerning listeners of all ages in concerts around Bath and Wiltshire.
The Carrivick Sisters are one of the UK's top young bluegrass and folk acts. Twins Laura and Charlotte perform their original songs and instrumentals along with a few carefully chosen covers on guitar, mandolin, fiddle, dobro, and clawhammer banjo. Having grown up in South Devon, the duo are known for their entertaining live performances and tight vocal harmonies, and have previously run Sunday Folk sessions for young players at WMC.
In order to comply with new government regulations, we are only allowing booking sizes of groups of up to 6 members (unless the group is a whole household).
We will be allowing free seating on the field (so bring a picnic blanket and chairs) but each group must be socially distanced from others (minimum 2 metres).
There will be a one-way system in place for access to the toilet facilities and bar, which will be monitored by volunteers, so if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask!
Please note, as part of making the venue safe to all visitors we are now asking anyone inside the venue to wear a face covering if they are able to do so. If you do not have a face covering, you may buy a disposable face mask from our Box Office for £1.
For full information about our procedures at this time, please see our Welcome Back page.
We hope you enjoy the concert!
