Past Events

2018 St Matthew Passion

In a spectacular concert, WMC Chorus once again joined Cantamus Chamber Choir and soloists from the English National Opera in a semi staged performance of J. S. Bach's epic oratorio, St Matthew Passion. This powerful and moving performance was particularly poignant as it acted as the culmination of Wiltshire's commemorations for the centenary of the armistice, with the concert taking place on Sunday 11th November.

2018 West Side Story

In May it was wonderful to see WMC Chorus join forces with 30 young people from local primary schools, singers from the Guildhall School of Music and musicians from Bath Philharmonia to perform West Side Story in concert as part of Bath Festivals. The Chorus performed a West Side Story medley in Southgate as were also part of the evening performance at The Forum in Bath, and it was incredible to see musicians from the local community perform together.

2017 Festive Suite

WMC Chorus performed for a spectacular launch of our 20th Anniversary. WMC Chorus worked alongside jazz pianist and composer Gwilym Simcock (pictured below), saxophonist Rob Buckland, members of of Wiltshire Youth Jazz Orchestra and a classical sting quartet to perform 'A Festive Suite', specially commissioned new pieces by Gwilym Simcock. Under the musical direction of Mike Daniels, the Chorus met for a number of rehearsals to prepare for the event.

2016 St John Passion

WMC Chorus’ Launch event was a special performance of Bach’s St John Passion with English Touring Opera directed by Jonathan Peter Kenny on Sunday 23rd October 2016. For this event the WMC Chorus sang new English translations of the chorales alongside professional soloists and musicians.
