Discover the benefits of giving up a little of your spare time to help us

Our volunteers are essential to the running of Wiltshire Music Centre. Whether they’re showing audience members to their seats, selling programmes or serving drinks behind the bar, our volunteers are the first port of call for our visiting audience, providing a friendly face and a warm welcome. We couldn’t do without them! As our activities expand we’re looking for more people to join our volunteer team – could this be you?

Here are some popular questions and answers

Why volunteer?

  • You’re needed. We’re a registered charity that depends on gifts of time as well as money. Our wonderful volunteers play a crucial role in delivering our programme and keeping the Centre operational.
  • You’ll become part of an inclusive, welcoming community with a lot of heart
  • You’ll be able to enjoy high quality musical experiences as you work
  • You’ll be able to use your skills to make a difference –  or learn new one
  • As a thank you, you’ll receive free tickets and invitations to social events,  as well as discovering new music. You’ll be part of the cultural life of Wiltshire / Bradford on Avon, and support the next generation of performers to keep music alive

What roles can you volunteer for?

  • Event and Front of House Stewards

A vital role on the night, our stewards support the smooth running of our events both front of house and backstage. You will greet customers, sometimes be on the bar, show people to their seats and help to answer any questions. The team also helps set up for the next day after the event. Stewards shift is on average four hours, and you’ll generally get to see a lot of the show that you’re volunteering for. Training will be given including for our evacuation procedures.

  • Garden and maintenance

Help with the job of keeping our building and green spaces neat, tidy and blooming. There is always something that needs doing from painting, repairing things and organising our spaces. No special skills needed (though welcomed), just a willingness to do. You can come in on your own or with other members of the maintenance and gardening team to help. These are daytime shifts.

  • General help

Marketing and publicity, flyering, mail-outs, office help, large event setup

  • Hospitality Stewards

We occasionally need small teams of volunteers to provide a hospitality service for our members receptions and popular food events. You’ll be able to see a good portion of the concert once the hospitality event is finished.

What benefits can you expect to receive?

  • Free tickets to our events
  • Social Events throughout the year
  • A treat from the bar to take home with you
  • Community, personal satisfaction, support artists/the arts
