Glorious works by Bach performed by celebrated local choir

J S BACH Lobet den Herrn alle Heiden BWV 230
J S BACH Orchestral suite No 2 in B minor BWV 1067
J S BACH Mass in A major BWV 234

From instrumental masterworks to choral delights, feast on an evening of Bach in all his glory. The joy of the motet Lobet den Herrn pairs with the delightful second orchestral suite, featuring the famously sprightly Badinerie.

Lobet den Herrn alle Heiden, a joyously effusive motet opens this early evening Cantamus concert revisiting the baroque following last year’s incredible anniversary concert. Mike Daniels directs the superb period strings of Music Cordiale joined by baroque flute specialist Claire Heaney for the orchestral suite in B minor featuring the famous sprightly  badinerie. Often overshadowed by his larger works the ‘Lutheran’ masses are full of Bach’s favourite cantata movements and the mass in A major includes delightful choruses, sumptuous solos and the ensemble including flutes.
