A special concert celebrating WYJO musician and Liz Lawrence Award-winner, Daniel Hammond with his Jazz Quintet.

Wiltshire Rural Music, in partnership with Wiltshire Music Centre, are proud to present an evening concert of music curated by our Liz Lawrence Award Winner, 19 year old Daniel Hammond.

This award is given annually to an outstanding young musician seeking higher education in the field of music and Daniel scooped the £1,000 prize in 2025 thanks to his incredible skills on Trumpet. Daniel is returning from his studies in jazz at Guildhall in London to present an evening of jazz featuring musicians he is now studying with, as well as musical friends from his time at WYJO. The evening of music presented by Daniel and his quintet will be a journey of jazz from its early days to modern classics.

Music has been part of Daniel’s life since he was 7 when he started playing with Wiltshire Young Musicians. His flair for jazz fired up at Beechen Cliff school when he was actively involved in playing for their Swing and Concert Bands. After achieving Grade 8, Daniel sought guidance from jazz trumpeter Mike Daniels, who helped refine his style and deepen his passion for the genre. At his Liz Lawrence Award audition, Daniel impressed the judges not only with his technical skill and musicality but also with his enthusiasm for giving back. He spoke passionately about his work coaching disabled young adults in music through the Zone Club. He was thrilled to win the award, and spent the £1,000 on a new mouthpiece for his trumpet.
