Step into the spirit of a 19th-century musical salon– a space where music meets conversation and every note tells a story. In this concert, the trumpet steps into the role of host and narrator, guiding the audience on a journey through the brilliance of Bach, elegance of Haydn and dynamism of Gershwin. Notably, the programme features works by two female composers who held salon concerts, Marianna von Martines and Pauline Viardot. Spoken introductions by Matilda and the Quartet create an intimate and relaxed feel to the concert.

Described by BBC Music Magazine as a “trumpeter extraordinaire”,  Matilda Lloyd joins forces with the Goldmund Quartet. Enjoy a programme of solo and chamber works with French romantic melodies, German classical elegance and the distinctive American style of Gershwin with his Three Preludes, specially arranged for trumpet.

Please note, some pieces in the programme are exclusively performed by the Goldmund Quartet, such as the Haydn and Schubert string quartets.

Matilda Lloyd is redefining the voice of her instrument on the world stage, celebrated for her flawless tone and dynamic subtlety. Joining forces with the “exquisite playing” (Süddeutsche Zeitung) of Goldmund Quartet from Munich, Matilda will showcase the trumpet’s remarkable range of colours. The programme includes lyrical French romantic melodies, German classical elegance and the vitality of Gershwin’s Three Preludes for trumpet.

Lloyd plays with intense expression and immense warmth
