Press Play Music Course

For young people aged 15–18 years

Are you passionate about music, and want to connect with other young musicians? This two-day course will allow young musicians and vocalists to collaborate on new ideas and make music together. Across the two days, there will be specialist workshops in songwriting, vocals, instrumental skills and music production, plus plenty of time for open jam sessions. You’ll develop your craft, learn new skills, meet new people and work alongside expert Facilitators. There will be an optional performance opportunity at the end of the course, as well as free access to recording space. Open to all instrumentalists and vocalists, age 15 – 18 years.

About the music leaders: Samantha Lindo, Will Lawton and Tom Bazeley

Samantha Lindo is a British-Jamaican singer-songwriter, composer and creative facilitator whose music blends jazz, soul, folk and spoken word. Her work has been championed by Gilles Peterson and Jamie Cullum, and she regularly leads songwriting projects with young people, creating welcoming spaces for creativity, collaboration and experimentation.

Will Lawton is a Wiltshire-based singer-songwriter, music psychotherapist and workshop leader. He has led songwriting projects with schools, community groups, the NHS and arts organisations, helping people of all ages use songwriting as a powerful creative and expressive tool. His supportive approach encourages participants to discover their own unique musical voice.

Tom Bazeley Born, raised and based in the West Country, Tom has a love of (nearly) all kinds of music, based on wide-ranging experience as a multi-instrumentalist playing with symphony orchestras, gigging and recording on the London and Birmingham club and band scenes, at festivals all over Europe, and as a producer, composer and teacher. Tom runs Purple Noise, who provide music tuition and studio services in Wiltshire and Somerset. He teaches rock & pop keyboards and brass, music theory, composition, and music production/technology.
