We're thrilled to be hosting the opening night of Bradford on Avon's annual Green Man Festival as well as hosting a stage on festival day. Here's what's happening!
THE LAUNCH PARTY
Headlining the night is The John Martyn Project, taking to the stage at 7.30pm. This six-piece tribute act treats the works of British singer-songwriter John Martyn with poignant sensitivity, exploring now only the songs from his 1970s purple patch, but much of his lesser-known works too. In the wake of a special one-off, sold-out show in 2018 at the Camden Jazz Cafe, the group decided to take the project on tour and the warm reception it received has inspired them to continue. Since then, they have regularly toured the UK and mainland Europe as well as bringing John’s music back to the festival circuit. Each tour they continue to introduce more of John’s back catalogue from obscure live recordings to classic favourites reworked and presented with rich harmonies and diverse instrumentation.
But the evening begins well before the music starts! Step into our transformed foyer and bar area, as the Green Man team bring the centre alive with decorations and lush, leafy green style décor to set the mood. You’ll also be treated to a special appearance from the Jack in the Green’s Ganderflankers band, who will be bringing the folklore to life with a vibrant freestage performance before the main act in our foyer bar.
To make the night even more special, we’re serving up delicious bowls of pre-ordered macaroni cheese courtesy of local caterers Fat Fowl Kitchens.
THE FESTIVAL DAY
Don’t forget to experience the heart of the festival from Saturday 10th May, with live music across five stages, over 50 dance groups, a vibrant fun zone and funfair for the kids, as well as artisan markets, arts and crafts fairs, a busting community hub and much, much more!
