Be part of our community choir and sing on the WMC stage!

WMC Chorus is a friendly community choir that gets together for one-off choral projects with professional artists on the WMC stage – for singers who love a new challenge! Our community choir welcomes all Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass singers from age 12 and upwards, of all singing abilities – we’d love for you to join us!

With repertoire ranging from classical, folk and jazz, the choir join with professional ensembles and musicians to experience memorable and unique performances. Previous projects have included work with VOCES8, Tenebrae and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, as well as jazz vocalists Emma Smith and Denny Ilett alongside GBH Big Band.

COMING UP NEXT: Sing on stage as part of our community opera with the OAE!

We are very excited to be partnering in June 2026 with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment for a performance of their community opera, The Fairy Queen: Three Wishes, and we’re looking for singers to be part of the on-stage choir! Find out more and sign up via the link below

How do I take part in WMC Chorus projects?

No – this is a ‘project’ choir, which we recruit singers for in advance of each concert. There will then be a short run of rehearsals (usually 4 or 5) before a concert.

The choir for each project is recruited in advance on a first-come, first-served application basis, after registration opens.

It depends on the project, but there are usually 4 or 5 evening rehearsals before the final performance.

Information about the next project and how to sign up will be posted on this page. You can also join our WMC Chorus mailing list so you can hear by email.

There is no minimum standard requirement to join the choir or an audition! It is useful if you have experience singing with a choir and for some projects you will need to be able to read music.

Yes, there is a participation fee which varies according to the projects.
