Booking for Autumn Winter 2024 is now live!

Calling all West of England Youth Orchestra / Wiltshire and Swindon Youth Orchestra alumni!

This summer, to mark 20 years under the baton of our beloved conductor Tim Redmond, The West of England Youth Orchestra (previously the Wiltshire and Swindon Youth Orchestra) will perform Stravinsky’s iconic piece The Rite of Spring!

We want to use this anniversary as a chance to reconnect and celebrate all the talented young (and now maybe not so young) musicians who have been part of this amazing orchestra.

There are 3 ways to get involved – see below to find out more!

This piece is HUGE and there is plenty of room for our alumni to come and play with us again!

If you played Trombone / Double bass / Violin / Viola in WSYO or WEYO we would love to have you back for this one-off opportunity to perform this ambitious and exciting piece.

You would need to join us for the following rehearsals and concerts:

  • Sun 25 Aug, 10am – 5pm
  • Mon 26 Aug, 10am – 5pm
  • Thurs 29 Aug, 10am – 5pm
  • Fri 30 Aug, 2 – 5pm rehearsal / 7.30pm concert
  • Sat 31 Aug, 12 – 2pm rehearsal / 3pm concert

If you are interested and available for these dates, email Emily to sign up: emily.pieczko@wiltshiremusic.org.uk

If you can’t play with us, we would still love to see you at the concerts (Friday 30 August at 7.30pm / Saturday 31 August at 3pm) and can offer all WEYO & WSYO alumni a promo code for £8 tickets.

We are also holding two receptions on the concert weekend, which you are invited to attend:

  • Friday 30 August: Fundraising pre-concert reception at 6.30pm
  • Saturday 31 August: Come along from 1.30pm (with a chance to watch the end of the orchestra’s rehearsal) and bring a picnic for an informal celebration

The WMC bar will be open before and after both performances to give everyone a chance to catch up!

If you’d like a discounted concert ticket and to attend either of the receptions, please email Emily for more information: emily.pieczko@wiltshiremusic.org.uk

We are gathering testimonies from our alumni to celebrate the impact of the orchestra over the years. You can add your testimony by sending a short paragraph (and a photo of you with your instrument if possible!)

We’d love you to tell us:

  • How has WEYO impacted your music-making life?  Do you have a music career, or are you still playing music with other people?
  • What did WEYO mean to you?  What were your highlights and how did it help you grow?

Please send your testimonies to Emily (emily.pieczko@wiltshiremusic.org.uk) by Friday 2nd August.
