Joe Webb Trio

Mercury-nominated jazz pianist makes his WMC debut

Joe Webb is one of the most formidable new jazz pianists to emerge in recent years. Fearless technique, unmistakable swagger, and a melodic instinct shaped by his Welsh roots. His live reputation has been driven by genuine acclaim and support from figures including Wynton Marsalis, Jools Holland and Jamie Cullum, amplified by his 2025 Mercury Prize shortlist for the debut album Hamstrings & Hurricanes.

Joined by bassist Will Sach and drummer Sam Jesson, the trio delivers a set drawing on the velocity and harmonic imagination of Art Tatum, filtered through a modern British sensibility shaped by the melodic directness of Oasis – bold, hook-focused and rhythmically charged. The latest album Neath Beat is out now on Edition Records. National TV appearances on Later… with Jools Holland and collaborations with RAYE and Wynton Marsalis mark him as one of the most compelling acts in British jazz today.
