An evening of violin masterpieces with Brahms and Bartók
Programme to include:
BRAHMS Violin Sonata No 1 in G major Op 78
BARTÓK Violin Sonata No 1 Sz 75
An evening showcasing the breadth of the violin with Alina Ibragimova, one of the most compelling violinists of her generation.
Brahms’s First Sonata, the “Rain Sonata,” is among his most intimate and lyrical works. Written four decades later, Bartók’s First Sonata offers a stark contrast: rarely performed yet one of the most important violin sonatas of the 20th century, it is fierce and daring, driven by the rhythms of Hungarian folk dance.
