An evening of extraordinarily emotive chamber music
JANÁČEK String Quartet No 2 ‘Intimate Letters’ (with script by Paul Allen)
SCHUBERT String Quartet No 14 in D minor D 810 ‘Death and the Maiden’
Janáček’s celebrated second quartet – nicknamed ‘Intimate Letters’ – is brought to life with readings of the Czech composer’s candid and personal writing, performed by actor Paul Hawkyard in the role of ‘Leoš’. This musical exploration is paired with Schubert’s sublime work ‘Death and the Maiden’.
