Everyone's invited to our free, end of Summer party, with live music, street food and creative activities for the whole community!
We’re throwing open our doors this September, spilling out onto the lawn and into the car park, as we throw a party for the community! It’s a chance to experience what we do here, for kids to take part in music making workshops, and for everyone to enjoy our spaces with friends, drinks, street food – and of course – live music. Save the Date.

OUTDOOR MAIN STAGE
3PM: Zone Club
Our irrepressible musical group for learning-disabled young adults start the show with enthusiasm, talent and tons of joy. Find out more about them here.
3:45PM: Hot Club of Avalon
Gypsy jazz trio in the style of Django Reinhardt. Led by Jazz Factory tutor, Ross Hughes on clarinet, with Alex Bishop on guitar and Tom Allen on double bass
5.15PM Jazz Factory
Our resident amateur jazz ensemble bring some jazz classics to life in the way that only they can!
6:15PM: The Carrivick Sisters
Beautiful folk for a late Summer evening from twin sisters Laura and Charlotte. This talented duo singing in close harmony together and draw inspiration from their passion for traditional American old time and bluegrass music, English folklore and a wide variety of instruments : guitars, mandolin, fiddle, banjo and dobro.
7:45PM: Organ3man vs Jonny Steele
From the Bristol melting pot, Organ3man are a three man organ combo with groovepower. Their funk line up of choice is organ, double bass and drums. They play live interpretations of some of the sweetest 60s soul jazz and heaviest 70s funk, all of which are a mix of high energy, improvised dancefloor killers. Today they’re also joined by Jonny Steele, a MC of remarkable ability, and whose work with The Scribes and Contraband Breaks Ensemble has seen his live energy spread widely around the UK.

Vinyl enthusiast and Bradford on Avon resident, Simon Arnoldi has been Djing for over 25 years at festivals and events across the UK. A former director and programmer for Farmfest in Somerset, he recently founded the ever expanding BoA Vinyl Gathering, which invites local collectors and selectors to come and play out their current favourite records each month. With a broad musical palette, here we plays his more worldly musical selections to set the mood between our amazing live acts. Expect an alfresco blend of Jazz, Soul, Latin, Folk, and Exotic Rockers from around the world.

CREATIVE & MUSICAL ACTIVITIES (NO BOOKING REQUIRED – TR1 and TR2)
ALL DAY: Our foyer will be hosting an exhibition of amazing artwork created by students in the Art Department of St Laurence School
3.30 – 4.45PM: Come and find out about all the musical and creative activities that happen at the Centre and meet some of the groups who regularly gather here. We’re offering free beginner music, dance, jazz and art activities for all ages (adults and children) – everyone can take part and have a go, you just need to give it a try.
- Ever fancied a go at a violin, a tuba, steel pans, or a double bass? Now’s your chance to try one out, thanks to Wiltshire Young Musicians tutors who will be running ‘Pick Up and Play’ sessions.
- Or maybe you’ve always wanted to try jazz? Bring your instrument, or pick one up here – our jazz maestro Mike Daniels will show you the ropes!
- And don’t forget the dancing, join Annette from Bop about Dance for latin dance workshop, full of fiesta vibes!
- Be part of our big music mural! Help us create a beautiful new artwork on our building!
- Join our friends SASS Circus to have a go or brush up your circus skills
- Go fiesta with facepainting courtesy of Little Faces.
4.45 – 5pm: If you’ve tried out an instrument at one of our workshops, run through what you’ve just learned, in anticipation of performing to the crowd in a group performance! You’ll be surprised at how good you’ll sound

- Where can I park? Because we’re using the main car parks at the front of the Centre for the event, parking is available on residential roads around the Centre, like Churches. Visitors are also welcome to use the Ashley Road St Laurence Car Park. However, we really encourage local visitors to come by foot or bus. The D1 drops off on Winsley Road, at the entrance to Churches, which is one of the nearest access points. See our website for how to find us.
- What if it rains? In the case of bad weather, most of the event will move inside the venue, apart from the food traders.
- Are dogs welcome? Yes, well-behaved dogs on a lead are welcome in the outside areas of the event. Owners are responsible for clearing up after their dogs.
- What happens if the noise is overwhelming? We have a indoor quiet room set aside for those in need of peace and calm. We also have ear defenders and ear plugs available to borrow/use at no extra cost. Pick them up from the Box Office inside the foyer.
- Can I bring a rug or chair? Yes, although there will be indoor and outdoor seating, please do feel free to bring something of your own to sit on if you wish.
- How will I know if the event is cancelled? Please follow our social media channels for latest information
- Will there be an event photographer? Yes, there will be someone taking photos at this event. If you prefer your image isn’t used in follow-up and general WMC promotion, please ask for an identifying sticker at the Welcome Desk.
- How accessible is the venue? There are many flat, hard surfaces outside the venue, and a flat grassy area in front of the main stage. Most of the workshops take place inside on the ground floor. There is one accessible toilet in the foyer area.
- Will there be coffee? Yes, available from our indoor bar
