Cinematic big band jazz from finest UK jazz stars, featuring UK soul legend Alison Limerick
The Glorious Assembly Jazz Orchestra features the stars of the UK jazz scene. This 21-piece big band plays the sparkling original compositions of Emmy winning composer David Mitcham. Special guest at tonight’s concert is soul singer, and long time collaborator on David’s film scores, Alison Limerick (Where Love Lives).
Expect jazz luminaries such as Mark Lockheart, Tori Freestone, Ian Thomas, John Parricelli, Gareth Williams, Loz Garratt, James Davison, Kasper Riekerk, Andy Wood and Gareth Lockrane.
Providing a launch pad for these superlative jazz soloists, David’s cinematic orchestrations expand the usual big-band line up. Glorious Assembly adds tuba, flute and alto flute as well as more exotic woodwind colours ranging from the highs of the piccolo and Eb clarinet to the awesome depths of the contrabass clarinet.
