One of Britain’s best-loved and most versatile opera stars of the last forty years, Sir Willard White’s illustrious career has taken him to the most prestigious opera houses and concert halls throughout the world. In his much-anticipated WMC debut, he joins forces with the celebrated Brodsky Quartet in a concert that pays homage to the collaboration between the Hollywood Quartet and Frank Sinatra in the ’50s, which resulted in the classic ‘Close to  You’ album.

In his much-anticipated WMC debut, he joins forces with the celebrated Brodsky Quartet in a concert that pays homage to the collaboration between the Hollywood Quartet and Frank Sinatra in the ‘50s, which resulted in the classic ‘Close to You’ album. The programme has a strong American theme with Barber’s hauntingly beautiful “Dover Beach”, songs by Copland, Gershwin, Kern, Weill with a European twist from Britten, Ravel and Massenet.
