SCHUMANN (arr. Steven Isserlis) 6 Studies in Canon Form in A flat major No 4 Op 56 “Innig”
MENDELSSOHN Cello Sonata No 2 in D major Op 58

A towering figure in British classical music for the past four decades, Steven Isserlis CBE’s international career has featured performances with the world’s greatest orchestras and a vast award-winning. Tonight, joined by pianist Alasdair Beatson, he turns to an intimate programme of Classical and Romantic works: from Beethoven’s witty variations on a beloved melody from Mozart’s The Magic Flute, to the rich passion of Mendelssohn’s Second Sonata.

Please note, there has been a change in programme from that which was originally advertised. Schumann’s Fantasiestücke for Cello and Piano Op 73 replaces Bennett’s Sonata Duo for Piano and Cello Op 32. There has also been a change in pianist. Alasdair Beatson replaces Connie Shih, who is unable to perform due to illness.
