West of England Youth Orchestra (WEYO) is a full-size symphony orchestra that provides young musicians from Wiltshire and the surrounding area with opportunities to perform with like-minded young musicians and leading professionals.

Directed by Tim Redmond, Professor of Conducting at Guildhall School, London, the ensemble meets for three residential courses per year at WMC. WEYO regularly performs alongside leading soloists including Alexandra Dariescu, Peter Moore and Matthew Trussler.

AUDITION FOR WEYO

Participation Fee

The participation fee is split into two separate parts:

Membership Fee: £75 per Academic Year
Fixed cost to be paid by all WEYO members to cover the general cost of running the ensemble. This fee guarantees participation in any virtual projects delivered due to course cancellations throughout the year. The Membership Fee is non-refundable.

Course Fee: £100 per physical course
Fully refundable if WMC cancels any activity in the building.

Reductions and Remissions

WMC is committed to providing opportunities for all to experience the incredible musical and social benefits that can be gained by performing in an orchestra such as WEYO. To ensure that these experiences remain accessible, WMC can offer partial remissions (up to 70%) for Course Fees with the help of funding from Wiltshire Music Connect.

Sibling WEYO Members are eligible for a 5% reduction on all fees.

Support WMC's Youth Orchestras

Through the Wiltshire Youth Jazz Orchestra and the West of England Youth Orcherstra, WMC has continued to support the development of nearly 100 talented young performers every year through providing unique opportunities to perform with like-minded people and connect with a world of professional performers through performances and virtual projects.

Help WMC continue to provide these experiences by donating towards the Youth Orchestras using the link below.

Could you buy a seat on the WEYO bus?

Help us to provide access to high quality musical development opportunities for talented young orchestral players across our rural county and donate now to our West of England Youth Orchestra Travel Fund. We need to raise an extra £3,000 to provide essential bus services for WEYO players to get to and from orchestral courses at Wiltshire Music Centre in August and December 2021.

Virtual WEYO - Lockdown 2020 Projects

As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, WEYO went digital for two fantastic projects delivered online. Our young musicians recorded themselves from home and contributed towards virtual performances shared online.
