Join this one-day training course exploring the inclusive multi-arts practice of Zone Club, WMC’s creative project for disabled young adults.
Led by music therapists Bob Heath and Alex Lupo.
Training Course Schedule: 9am – 4pm
Dedicated morning training workshops will explore the underlying processes that can accompany interactive relationships and how we can develop these into successful creative strategies. There will be a focus on:
- Intensive Interaction
- Active and Creative Listening
- Key skills such as pace, rhythm, repetition, and anticipation
- Developing our observational skills
- Strategies for Group Work
In the afternoon, we will join the Zone Clubbers and facilitators for an interactive creative session, giving you the opportunity to further explore and develop your skills from our morning workshops.

Bob Heath – Music therapist, co-founder and lead practitioner of Zone Club.
Bob Heath has been a music therapist and community musician for 25 years. He has worked in many contexts as a therapist and has helped to establish creative songwriting as one of the main pillars of music therapy practice in Britain. He has published work in various books and journals and continues to work as a therapist and supervisor in private practice. Bob lectures at Universities in the UK, Italy and Romania and has recently published his first book, Songs from a Window: End-of life Stories from the Music Therapy Room. He is an experienced Intensive Interaction practitioner and is an ambassador for The Doubleday Institute for the Patient Experience.
Alex Lupo – Music therapist and lead practitioner of Zone Club.
Alex is a neuro-divergent musician with more than 20 years’ experience as a performer, composer and producer. Collaborations include PJ Harvey, Charlotte Harding and Charles Hazlewood. For over 25 years, Alex has worked as a community musician with organisations across the UK. As an advocate for inclusive, non-formal music education, Alex has devised, delivered, coordinated and managed projects for people of all ages in diverse settings, and also mentors and trains other community musicians.
Alex is an HCPC-registered music therapist.
