Wiltshire Youth Jazz Orchestra (WYJO) provides young jazz musicians from Wiltshire and the surrounding area with opportunities to perform with like-minded young musicians and leading professionals. Led by experienced local jazz tutor Mike Daniels, the ensemble meets for two residential courses per year at WMC.

As a part of Wiltshire Music Centre's partnership with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Great Britain (NYJO), WYJO regularly performs alongside leading young musicians from the group called the NYJO Ambassadors under the leadership of Mark Armstrong, Musical Director of NYJO. In addition to this, WYJO has played alongside a number of leading performers, including Gwilym Simcock, Jason Rebello and Empirical Jazz.

Wiltshire Music Centre is a National Youth Jazz Orchestra Regional Academy and is the host of Wiltshire Jazz Academy, a National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO) Regional Academy Partner.

Reductions and Remissions

WMC is committed to providing opportunities for all to experience the incredible musical and social benefits that can be gained by performing in a jazz orchestra such as WYJO. To ensure that these experiences remain accessible, WMC can offer partial remissions (up to 70%) for Course Fees with the help of funding from Wiltshire Music Connect.

Sibling WYJO Members are eligible for a 5% reduction on all fees.

Once you have confirmed your place in WYJO and completed the registration form, a member of the Creative Learning team will get in touch if we are able to offer a reduction or remission on your fees.
