Award-winning folk band from Quebec tour their latest heart-warming album, sung in French

A welcome return to WMC for this standout progressive folk band from Quebec. Singing in French, with hurdy-gurdy, bouzouki, Quebec bombard, violin and accordion, they weave Irish, Scottish, and Francophone melodies into stories of rivers, history, loss, friendship and love.

Québec’s acclaimed progressive folk quintet Le Vent du Nord released their 13th album, Voisinages, worldwide on 10 October 2025. Formed in 2002, the award-winning group have become leading ambassadors for Canada’s Francophone culture, performing more than 2,400 shows across four continents and earning international recognition including JUNO Awards, Canadian Folk Music Awards and a Songlines Music Award.

Voisinages explores the many meanings of neighbourhood: musical links with Irish, Scottish, Acadian and American traditions; shared rivers and histories; and the human need for openness, reconciliation and connection. Rooted in Québec’s traditional repertoire, the album also brings fresh energy through newest member André “Dédé” Gagné, alongside Nicolas Boulerice, Olivier Demers, Réjean Brunet and André Brunet.

With five-part harmonies, foot-tapping, hurdy-gurdy, fiddle, accordion, bouzouki and more, Le Vent du Nord balance joyous dance tunes with reflective ballads, proving that Québec folk remains inventive, vibrant and very much alive.
