Wiltshire Music Centre will come alive again from September with a full season of outstanding live music experiences both at the Centre and online.
Classical music lovers can look forward to performances by Orchestra in Residence, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and Quartet in Residence, the Doric String Quartet, as well as sensational programmes from Tenebrae, English Touring Opera, the Fidelio Trio and Brodsky Quartet.
For folk fans there are return shows by trail-blazing groups Leveret and Còig, as well as the inimitable Martin & Eliza Carthy. Meanwhile renowned jazz artists Stacey Kent and John Law return, and the Pasadena Roof Orchestra round off the season with a swinging festive finale. Plus, don’t miss an exhilarating world music programme from Fofoulah, combining West African rhythms with dub and jazz.
The Centre’s commitment to supporting young artists continues with a classical lunchtime concert series in partnership with City Music Foundation and Young Classical Artists Trust. With family shows, screenings and the promise of a 10th Anniversary Bradford Roots Music Festival in the new year, there's plenty to look forward to.
Almost all events are also available to livestream and watch again in ‘crystal clear’ audio (Observer) and high definition video, so audiences near and far can enjoy every tantalising note as its being performed from the comfort of their own home.
Alongside the new concert series, WMC has reopened for community use and continues to host a rich programme of learning and engagement activities for all ages. From baby and toddler groups to youth choirs and ensembles and creative and wellbeing activities for adults, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Plus, don’t miss the Centre’s month-long (26 July – 27 August) Summer Fun programme of activities for children aged 0-18yrs, including drama, dance and music workshops, crafting, concerts and more.
